St. Gregory's Catholic Women's League (CWL)

Mission Statement: The Catholic Women’s League of Canada calls its members to grow in faith, and to witness to the love of God through ministry and service.

About Us

Founded in 1920, the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) of Canada is an organization dedicated to the core values of faith, service, and social justice. As a parish council of the CWL since 1958, the St. Gregory’s CWL has been growing and serving our parish through its continual presence and participation in parish activities and community outreach. We have over 80 plus members of all ages and years of service ranging from new to 70 years of enduring service.

Our current National theme Ignite your passion, empower his mission with a focus on Blessed are the poor, inspires us to serve our parish and community through activities and events that serve the most vulnerable. We recently organized a Senior Kit drive to support a local charity in our neighbourhood.

Parish Ministries & Community Support: The League supports Parish activities often offering a connection between parish, community and the parish school. Examples are Living Rosary, Volunteering at the Mabelle Food Bank, Ministry to the Homebound, Ordinandi Dinner, Food and Clothing Drives.

At St. Gregory’s CWL, members share a common faith that binds us together no matter where we are in our life’s journey. Being surrounded by the warmth, companionship and genuine care offered by our sisters, our hearts are filled with joy, purpose and a deep love for God.

Membership means different things to different people. It is an opportunity to be of service to our community, to our country and to God. Come join us and find how you will use your gifts and make lasting friendships. Together we will live our CWL Mission through Faith - Deepening our Spiritual relationship with God, Service - by ministering to others in our communities and Social Justice - by advocating for the dignity of all persons.

Our meetings are held once a month. Here you will be informed about our activities (e.g. annual fundraiser which is our largest fundraising event to support charities in our church, the community and in developing countries; volunteer opportunities at the Food Bank; prayer group opportunities to name a few), offer ideas, and hear about what is happening across the League.

St. Gregory's CWL Membership

CWL Membership dues are $40 annually. Included in your membership is The Canadian League magazine (published quarterly which will keep you informed of the League business and activities across Canada.) To join or renew, please use the link below to provide your information along with your payment. Place in an envelope marked "CWL Membership" in the collection box at any Mass, or drop it in the Parish Office mailbox slot or mail to:

As a member we welcome your participation in any of our activities:

Monthly Meeting of Members: (The monthly meeting usually combines a short educational/spiritual element with a business meeting, refreshments and some social time)
Pancake Sunday (Sunday before Ash Wednesday)
World Day of Prayer (First Friday in March)
Rosary in the Marian Garden daily in May and October
Rosary Sunday at Martyrs’ Shrine (September)
